Octonauts Birthday Cake With Fondant Sea Life

March 1, 2015

Last week I made a cake with the theme from the cartoon Octonauts. It’s a cute show for young kids about sea life and how to keep the ocean safe and healthy. The decor on the cake was made days before and consisted of: Submarine, Captain (Polar Bear), Kwazii (Pirate Cat), Peso (Penguin) and random sea life (coral, seaweed, shells and so on). The cake was airbrushed with sky blue airbrush color and I used white fondant for the name so that I would really stand out.

The submarine was made of Rice Krispies Treats and covered in fondant. I made the wings, fins and propeller separate from the sub so they could dry and be added on later.

The animals were kind of weird because they were like bobble heads. I made their bodies first and let them dry for a day. I then made the heads and placed them on the dry bodies. They were heavy little suckers.  Happy Sunday Everyone!!!
