Nascar Tire Cake with Flames

I had the pleasure of making this cake for one of my husband’s best friends. He really enjoys Nascar so we decided to make a tire cake topped with a small race car of his own. This was a 8 in. chocolate cake with buttercream frosting covered in black fondant. The race car is made of Rice Krispy Treats.

I made the race car out of Rice Krispy Treats because they are easy to shape and cover in fondant.

The flames on the tire cake are hand cut fondant to resemble fire. The tread on the tire cake was made by using the end of a spoon, leaving impression marks that represent tire tread.
